A better question is surely "What's not to do?" The Yorks offer a
multitude of activities to satisfy almost any appetite. We have sunny beaches,
swimming, water sports, golf, tennis, clam bakes, Maine
lobster, cultural attractions, amusement attractions and some of New England's finest
scenery - and that's just to name a few of the many offerings there are to enjoy.
Maine is noted for its many lighthouses. One of the most famous, Nubble Light, is located just north of Long Sands beach on a small
rocky island. This scenic landmark is one of the most photographed
and painted lighthouses in the World.
York Beach is home to Maine's largest zoo and amusement park. Yorks's Wild Kingdom has something of interest for the whole family. Wild Kingdom has everything from exotic animals to a variety
of amusements such as paddle boats and a haunted house, and there are even educational learning sessions throughout the day!
Located off Rt.
1A in Ogunquit, Perkins Cove provides boat charters, shops,
restaurants, and art galleries. For the theatre lovers, one of
southern Maine's most famous cultural landmarks, the Ogunquit Playhouse is also here. Opened
in 1933, the Playhouse continues to present the best available performers.
Shoppers will enjoy the Kittery Outlet Malls, conveniently located
15 minutes south of York, where 120 brand-name outlet stores await. And that's in addition to the wonderful gift shops, specialty stores and antique shops peppering the area.
